The Chateau du Coeur story begins when after another chapter in life ended. 2004 brought many changes to Rene’ Bollen, the father My wife, Jeannine. With the passing of his vivacious, beautiful and charming wife, he needed a change in scenery and surroundings'. He loved birds and other animals and longed for a home setting that would afford him the space and neighbors to pursue his hobbies and feel like he was in the “country”. Jeannine directed Rene’ to Orange Park Acres. Jeannine loved animals as well and loved the equine lifestyle. She had a desire to have a little Tuscan style farm house. Together they searched for the property that we call Chateau du Coeur. Finding it in Orange Park Acres (OPA), a beautiful slice of a past era, right here in suburbia Orange County, CA. The decision was made to create a family compound with a house for Rene’ and another for Jeannine and I and our family. While updating and building out would take almost four years, in the meantime, the family farm was started. Rene’ had canary’s, pigeons, turkeys. Jeannine had her horse, a pig, and goat, two dogs and three cats. And what’s a small family farm with out Chickens and Ducks to lay eggs. Rene’ loved Roosters too. One day Rene’ stopped me while I was playing with the tractor moving horse manure and dirt piles around. He pointed to the section of ground I was playing on and motioned me to come over. In his most charming and thick Belgian French accent he said “Bwuuuse, whhat do you see hear?” when I replied DIRT, he said “ you know whhat I see?, I see a vinyaaard” at which moment he smiled and turned to go to the back porch of a house with only two walls and no roof and have a beer. So it was said and so it was done, thus through planning and collaboration that year, the Vineyard was planted in March of 2008.
